Dr. J. Scott Stancil
enjoys working with patients of all ages on a multitude of foot and ankle ailments. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association. He is also the President of the North Carolina Foot and Ankle Society. Dr. Stancil has vast knowledge and treatment options of
Contracted with the United States Naval Hospital at Cherry Point, NC for over 10 years, Dr. Stancil treats active duty servicemen, servicewomen and
their dependent families.
Dr. Stancil received his undergraduate degree in Biology from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his Masters of Education from East Carolina University and earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in 1996. He completed his general podiatric and surgical residency at the Sheehan Memorial Hospital in Buffalo, New York.
Dr. Amy Pitzer
joined Family Foot and Ankle Physicians
in August 2008.
Dr. Pitzer received extensive training in reconstructive surgery as well as trauma related
injuries, including both foot and ankle fractures. She treats sports related
injuries in addition to other foot and ankle deformities. She is also well versed in the latest wound care techniques as she currently works in two wound clinics. She currently works as a consultant for Vidant Medical Center and is a panel physician at the Wound Healing Center in Greenville. She also has a satellite clinic in Ahoskie at the OutPatient Clinic at Roanoke Chowan Hospital. She also works at Wayne Memorial Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center in Goldsboro, NC.
Dr. Pitzer graduated from East Carolina University in 2000 with a dual degree in Biology and Chemistry. In 2005 she graduated from Des Moines University, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. She completed her three year
surgical residency in disorders of the foot and ankle at St. John North Shores Hospital in Detroit, Michigan where she was awarded the Charles Pankratz Podiatric Surgical Scholarship. Dr. Pitzer is Board Certified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is a also
a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association,American
Association for Women Podiatrists, Pitt County Medical Society and
the American Diabetic Association.
Dr. Rick C. Chen
joined Family Foot and Ankle Physicians on August 1, 2012
after completing a three-year comprehensive foot and ankle surgical residency at Yale New
Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. In his final year of training, he served as the Section Chief Resident.
While at Yale New
Haven Hospital, Dr. Chen received extensive training in Charcot
foot and flatfoot reconstruction utilizing the latest internal and Ilizarov/external fixation surgical techniques. He is well versed in various plastic surgical techniques in the treatment of chronic diabetic ulcers and trauma induced
wounds. Dr. Chen is also trained in conservative
and surgical management of trauma related
foot and ankle injuries as well as many
and ankle ailments.
Dr. Chen received his dual undergraduate degrees in Biological and Biomedical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2004, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 2009 and was the recipient of multiple American Podiatric Medical Association Education Foundation scholarships.
Dr. Chen is a former competitive swimmer. In his spare time
he enjoys playing basketball, cross
training, and playing guitar.
Dr. Chen is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Family Foot & Ankle Physicians is proud to announce the
addition of a new podiatrist to our family. Dr. Aaron J. Leshikar
practice on July 1, 2017 after completing a three-year surgical residency at
St. Vincent's Hospital, a level 1 trauma hospital, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
While there he received extensive training in Charcot reconstruction, limb
salvage and pediatric flatfoot reconstruction. He is well versed in the latest
surgical techniques and also trained in
conservative and surgical management of trauma related foot and ankle injuries
as well as common foot and ankle conditions. Dr. Leshikar earned his Doctorate
of Podiatric Medicine from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine
in 2014. Dr. Leshikar played college basketball and soccer and his
understanding of athletic performance is certainly an asset in treating his patient/athletes.
He is professionally interested in sports medicine, minimally invasive surgical
techniques, total ankle replacements, wound care and diabetic education in the
community with delivery of responsible healthcare. He is very family-oriented
and lives with his wife and 5 children here in Greenville, NC.
